Barcelona Nautical Cluster's working groups continue to tackle new themes and topical discussions in the sector to identify areas for improvement and solutions to problems, and to identify best practices that can help companies in the sector to become more competitive.
Two sectoral meetings were held recently: one on the situation of marinas and the number of superyachts that have moored at our ports this year and another on Smart Ports.
The first meeting on occupation of marinas and the number of vessels that have visited their facilities this year was attended by Port Fòrum, Marina Vela, Varador 2000 and Port Tarraco, with contributions from Marina Vilanova and Marina Port Vell. All the participants agreed on the importance of promoting Barcelona as a destination for superyachts and the need to design joint actions to move in this direction.
At the meeting on Smart Ports, participants shared potential projects and initiatives by Cluster members in this area, aware of the growing importance of this concept within the port, logistics, maritime and nautical areas, in parallel to the role that the Smart City concept has acquired in recent years. Grup Arelsa, Quontinuum, Econano, Click&Go, ArchBeacon, Smart Sea Technologies and Medenisa took part in the first meeting of this group, which also discussed issues relating to EU legislation.
Working group meetings scheduled for September concern training, charters and the legal environment, all of which are areas in which the Cluster has been working since it was set up.
