The Marina Port Vell's One Ocean Club hosted the Barcelona Yacht Rendezvous international meeting organised by the Seakeepers International Society on 8 May. The event was attended by various members and organisations associated to Barcelona Nautical Cluster, such as Charter&Dreams, Marina Barcelona 92, BWA Yachting and Marina Port Vell, which hosted the event, and by the CEO Alejo Trullás.
The new destinations and forthcoming projects revolving around the Seakeepers programmes related to oceanographic research and conservation all over the world were announced during the dinner. Barcelona Yacht Rendezvous kicked off a new season of marine research, in which various owners and captains make their yachts available to the scientific community to contribute to the research and protection of the oceans.
The event also served to review the main achievements of the DISCOVERY Yachts missions conducted the previous year and related to scientific expeditions and educational programmes. Among the numerous guests and personalities from the nautical sector, the event was attended by two of the main scientific members of Seakeepers, Dr. Marie-Pierre Poulain from the Italian State Funded Research Institute OGS, and Barbara Jackson, director of the Zennstrom Foundation's Baltic Sea programme.
