On 8 May Toni Tió, president of Barcelona Nautical Cluster, took part in the 3rd Forum de la Mer, a key nautical event held in El Jadida (Morocco) from 6 to 10 May.
Toni Tió spoke at the "Mediterranée" workshop with a presentation that revolved around the "city-port-sea" triangle for competitiveness in a meeting that focused on the Mediterranean. The aim was to put various experiences and projects for the development, promotion and preservation of coastal areas into perspective.
Toni Tió's presentation focused on the project of Barcelona Nautical Cluster and its impact on the socioeconomic development of the Barcelona shoreline. As an example of port-city integration, nautical activities in Barcelona are an opportunity to "re-industrialise" a sector that offers significant wealth and job creation potential. The talk concluded with a Q&A session.
The potential of the sea from different angles
Nearly 2,500 people participated in the most didactic and cross-cutting edition of the Forum de la Mer yet. Toni Tió was one of seventy internationally renowned speakers who took part to discuss issues related to the sustainable development of the sea and coastal areas. The participants included the former Moroccan minister Driss Alaoui Mdghri; Patrick Buer, founder of the Marathon des Sables; Gilles Boeuf, president of the National Museum of Natural History in Paris; and Nadia Larak, General Manager of ANP.
