The member of the Barcelona Clúster Nàutic Seastainable Ventures will apply to obtain the European patent of an artificial modular coral that will improve the life of the marine ecosystem and monitor its situation. It is a blue economy project arising from the collaboration between the Cluster and the Chamber of Commerce of Barcelona.
The Chamber of Barcelona has awarded € 3,500 aid to Seastainable Ventures for the presentation of this European patent.
Specifically, the project to be registered with the European Patent Office (EPO) consists of an artificial modular coral that allows both the fish to move and to capture and analyze data from the seabed. In addition, the new coral will stimulate the recovery and renaturation of degraded marine areas or those with low biodiversity in a much faster and more efficient way.
The invention has been possible thanks to the new digital 3D technique and the use of the cutting-edge technology of the Internet of Things (IOT).
Seastainable Ventures was one of the six companies that won an innovation check valued at € 10,000 within the framework of the European project 4helix+, for which the Clúster Nàutic has collaborated with the Chamber. In total, the program gave € 60,000 to Catalan companies in the blue sector to carry out creative innovation projects, also including other Cluster members, such as Daevi and Business Yachtclub Barcelona.
The Barcelona Clúster Nàutic actively collaborates with the Chamber of Commerce of Barcelona to channel aid to companies and also to promote innovation and sustainability projects and blue growth, which are strategic lines of the Cluster.
